Are you regularly updating the world on Twitter and Facebook? Well of course you are. We all know what you had for lunch and it sounded just delightful. But seriously, creating an online presence for your business is a tough gig, and it takes a lot of effort and commitment to see results. Putting up a basic website is the tip of the iceberg; have you used key words in your updates? Posted at the correct time of day? Linked it to your other social media? Used appropriate photographs?

Starting to utilise these platforms to improve your business can seem daunting, but the truth is that everyone else is already using them and avoiding doing so will lose you potential customers. Think about how you look for a new product or service yourself; the internet is our primary search tool and it’s too fantastic to ignore. There are 120 000 Tweets sent every second and 50% of shoppers make purchases based on recommendations via social media; your business NEEDS be part of that picture.

Glasgow City Council has recognised this trend and is offering up to £1000 of funding for new businesses to spend on digital media. The Digital Business Grant will be available along with a host of free workshops taking place this summer to guide you through the world of website navigation, site content and SEO optimization. Remember, a blog post won’t describe how modern your brand new gym looks, but a video might just do the trick. A website alone might supply all the details of your venue but a Twitter campaign will get people through the door to sample the new cocktail menu.

If this sounds like something you want to be a part of check out the details here, and don’t forget to contact us for advice on creating exciting online content to make your business shine.
