If you’re looking for an effective way to let your customers get to know your brand a little better, then we’ve got just the thing for you. Across the world teenagers, young mums, couples, makeup artists – hell, just about everyone – is vlogging (video blogging) their lives for the world to see. If you’ve got a decent camera and some spare time then we suggest you give it a try. Here are a few tips…

Be consistent
One of the best ways to increase interest in your brand is by uploading vlogs content regularly. In between your professionally produced adverts or brand focused videos, you should try to vlog your activities on a weekly basis, or even more if you have the time. We suggest recording little and often throughout the week, and editing it together (with our help if required) into a short video that paints a picture of what you’ve been up to. The day to day activities that take place within your business may actually be of interest to your viewers, even if you think they’re boring, so be sure to record any meetings, new products or even just brainstorming sessions you may have. If you struggle to find time to record videos then get everyone in the office to take turns throughout the week.

Be friendly
Even funny conversations between you and your co-workers can inject a little humour into your content, helping to create a relationship between your team and your customers which should lead to a more personalised service overall. Your viewers will get to know you all by name and should feel more confident buying into your services as they get to know the people behind the brand. You could also take the chance to do a short Q&A style section in one video, answering some frequently asked questions and opening up to any other queries your customers may have. Try to encourage your most knowledgeable (and charming!) employees to take part to keep the footage upbeat and informative.

Be topical
Talking about current issues affecting your industry or followers will give you an opportunity to open up a discussion with your customers about things that really matter. React quickly to breaking news stories with information or even just open questions and allow your viewers to comment below. It will make them feel part of a conversation, that their opinions are valid, and gives you as a company a chance to find out more about how they think. We recently saw a personal trainer post a video asking if her clients thought NHS workers should be forced to set an example with their own eating and smoking habits. The conversation took off, with everyone voicing their opinion in response and it allowed the trainer to show off some of her knowledge and tips as well. Be confident in your own opinions and make sure to back up any arguments with facts, but above all just treat it as a way to communicate with and get to know your customers.
