Very recently the Web Video Marketing Council, ReelSEO and Flimp Media have released a report on developing trends in the world of online video marketing and business video. They have very kindly allowed us to publish some of their results, so we have broken the report down into the sections that we thought would be useful for our clients, including how to best optimise videos for online distribution, and what type of video is currently most produced.

The report aims to show how online video is being used by business as part of their marketing strategies, and we’ll be releasing their findings through a series of ten blog posts over the next couple of weeks, this being the first.

We hope to give our clients the information needed to better plan their current video marketing strategy, to give an idea of what other marketers are doing to promote their work and their products, and to help kickstart some ideas for next years strategies.

To get the ball rolling I’ve dropped some interesting statistics from the report below to give you an idea of some of the content we will be covering in the next nine posts.

  • 84% are using video for website marketing
  • 60% are using video for email marketing
  • 70% are optimising video for SEO
  • 70% of surveyed marketers said they will increase spending on video marketing
  • 82% of of surveyed marketers stated that video marketing has had a positive impact on their business or organisation

It’s a pretty compelling case for the use of online video! This information is coming from a survey conducted on over 600 marketing professionals. 52% of those involved in the survey work for B2B companies, 23% work for B2C companies, 21% for agencies and 4% for nonprofit organisations.

From all those involved, over 84% are key decision makers, so listening to what they have to say might be worth your while!

In the next blog post we’ll be looking at who is using video, and why. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn to be alerted when we release our next update on video marketing trends in 2013. Stay tuned!
